At the end of 1992, a young dancer with a post-movida aura arrived in Paris from Madrid, with a love of dance, the meeting of genres and the cross-fertilisation of cultures and disciplines. The following year, she set up her own contemporary dance company. 30 years later, still at the helm of one of the few independent companies on the French contemporary scene, Blanca Li remains as free and inventive as she was in her early days. With the added glamour of maturity and the choices she has made over two decades.
Her fame and her singularity make her more than ever unclassifiable. 2000 shows in 30 years illustrate the infinite renewal of Blanca Li’s sources of inspiration, techniques and themes. There is, however, a common thread woven around the technical and interpretive demands she places on her dancers.
